Python

Coding is a way to communicate from human languages to technology. The way to understand code is very complicated like a spider web. In Multimedia class, I learned about python, python is one of a language in coding. Coding isn’t connecting to me in any systems, I just can’t get it and also I don’t really love coding, when I learn Multimedia class, I felt like I am in a locations where there are a lot of vampires or monsters because I took much time than the other people to figure out the code problem that my teacher ask me to solve. In fact, this class is very new to me, I never ever get a chance to learn this subject in my whole life and nowadays I got to learn but I just don’t know why, my brain just can’t keep all the explanations in my memory and when my teacher explain me, all of that information gets into my right ear but it gets out quickly through my left ear back to her.   Coding…….?

Story Structure-English Literacy

The story was divided into two states, they are fiction and nonfiction. Fiction is literature from the imagination of an author that is an untruth story but nonfiction is a contrast from fiction, nonfiction is literature that is a fact. The picture shows that there are 5 main states in one story. Exposition is the beginning of a story that tells about characters, settings and conflicts that may occur during a story and it also called hook because it is the first story that catches the attention of the readers or viewers. Next, rising action is a middle part of a story in which the problems are rising and that where the characters are shown in a story. After that, climax, it is on a top of a plot, it is known as a turning point in a story is where the main characters face a problem and solve, then, falling action, the state where the problem is resolved and lead the story to end and the story that to wrapping up and finally, resolution is where the problem is solved and come to the end of a story. In a story either Movie or book, they are both have the same story structure (figure above). If you’re interested to know more about the story, by the time you are watching or reading you can check it out of a tone (voice, positive, neutral or negative), mood ( feeling), Motif (image or design that creating one pattern and repeat), foreshadowing (author gives the readers or viewers the hints of what is the next scene), suspense (a state of feeling, scared or excited of what may happen), poetic justice (relate to the characters in story when a bad character in a story get reward but a bad character get punishment), conflict (problem) and theme (category of a story, whether it is emotional to horror). After I learned in class, my facilitator hands me a book Name Looking for Alaska. One week to another, we have to complete the role of this book. There are five roles in total: summarizer, inference, symbolizer, word detective, and visualizer base on this book.

Carbon & Carbon Cycle

Carbon can combine with itself and with many other elements to form a great diversity of compounds. Carbon is a nonmetal in group 14 in the periodic table. Carbon bonding, They need four more electrons to fill the outer shell to make this element stable by forming covalent bod (share with nonmental and mental) by share four of the electrons. Carbon often forming with Hydrogen. Carbon can form single, double, or even triple bonds with other carbon atoms. In a single bond, two carbon atoms share one pair of electron. In a double bond, they share two pairs of electrons, and in a triple bond, they share three pairs of electrons. Because of carbon’s ability to form so many covalent bonds, it often forms polymers. A polymer is a large molecule that consists of many smaller molecules joined together by covalent bonds. The smaller molecules are called monomers. (The prefix mono means “one,” and the prefix poly means “many.”) . Pure carbon can exist in different forms, depending on how its atoms are arranged. When they form, they will form different structure and it will have different properties, including diamond, graphite, and fullerenes. Carbon is a nonmetal with four valence electrons. Each carbon atom forms four covalent bonds. We call this element is “ Element of Life”.

Agriculture of Stieng Indigenous Community

Identity is the one who shows your origin, Without identity, it is very complicated to identity to know who you are? In the whole universe, the human has different genes to define themselves in uncommon style. A human being different from one to another. Both Minority faction and majority faction, the way that they work are truly contrast. Minority community on earth are very separate from each other. In Kampuchea, There are many types of indigenous group that still exist. One of an indigenous group is almost existing is “Stieng”.  This group is mostly depending on agriculture as the main job. On April-May, which is a rainy season in Kampuchea, so everybody is preparing to farm for the rest of the year. The crops that Stieng people farm are cassava, pepper, rubber and cashew nut.

Cashew nut

They farm the cassava on red soil from April and pick the crop on December, the end of the year. One kilogram of cassava is 400៛. In the whole year, they got 5,000,000៛-6,000-000៛ from cassava after sold to China company. In other words, cashew nut is also playing in a role. One kilogram of cashew nut is 3000៛ that sell to the middle man so in the whole year they get 1,000,000៛-2,000,000៛. Stieng farmers use the natural soil to put into their farm. For rubber, they farm in a large area that not relevant to cassava or other plants. One year, they got 4 tons of rubber to sell into a middle man for 1600៛ per kilogram. And last, pepper, this type of plant need special soil like black soil or red soil, for the whole year, they got 1-3 tons of pepper and sell one kilogram for 40000៛. Finally, The job is very necessary for life so Stieng people hope to have a new job that can help to improve their lives smother beside farming.

Memoir

My mother’s machine is my life

                                                         (From: PNGio.com)

Sewing machine is my mother. If I don’t have her and her machine, I don’t have today too. She is very important piece of my heart because she fed me and took care of me after I was born. She took care of me the same as she holds the egg not to fall down. When I woke up at the afternoon at 2 o’clock, I saw her sitting on the chair sewing the clothes in the house for money. That time I felt very proud of my mother who was working very hard to fed all of three children in the same time, she is a strong tree that can feed all of the fruits that she had. I am a third children in my family. My mother chose this job because she has learned how to sew the clothes for a long time ago so she decided to chose this as her job. My parents work very hard everyday to get the money to buy the food and the things that we need in our family. My parents are the ants are work in everyday.

When I was in grade 3, I always sleep in the afternoon after I ate lunch. I slept for two hours to three hours, after I woke up and I saw my mother sewing the clothes. I started to shouted out loud because I felt very hungry and then my mother face to me and she said “ Ohh little boy, come on and get up“ . she started to have a big smile to me then she brought the snack for me to eat, next I went to play with my friends that stay close to my house but right now I stay far away from my mother and my father because I have to go to learn at Phnom Penh. I never sleep at the afternoon anymore. I don’t have enough time to go to bed at the afternoon because it is time for me to go to school for my future.

In that Sunday afternoon nearly five o’clock that the sun nearly set, I have a break time from school. I said to my mother“mom I wanted a new backpack” because I will change grade soon because I saw other kids got the new backpack from their moms. She replied to me “OK” in a kind of sad face. She told my sister and brother to looked after me because she had to buy the vegetables for dinner for that Sunday evening and she bought me a new backpack as well. When she arrived home, she gave that backpack to me but before she gave me that backpack she told me that “you have take care of this backpack”  I said to my mother back “yes” mom, I will take care of this new backpack and I will learn and work hard to get a high score and I also said thank you to my mother very much. The backpack was very handsome as me. The backpack was red that I can see the rose inside of this backpack that I couldn’t wait to use it. That Sunday evening I felt very happy and very exciting like I am going to sit on the cloud and fly in the sky with a new backpack. My mom looked at me in a happy face to me but she didn’t say anything to me.

Now it was 5 o’clock in the evening, she told me after she bought me the backpack that you have to think of something that when you buy somethings you have to spend your money so all of those money that she bought the backpack was from the sewing the clothes. All of those money was from her effort. My mother said “Money is very hard to get  but if you spend that money, it is very easy”.

“Time is money but money is life”. My mother said to me, I said back to her, “I will use this backpack very be careful and I will keep it clean all the time”. I didn’t know why she still keep telling me about the backpack like the water cycle. I though that she spent a lot of money on my backpack and because those money, it is very difficult for her to get and another reason is she had three children if  she buy one backpack for me so my brother or sister should get one as well.

At night time that the lion starts to find the food, she told me the Khmer fairy tale before I sleep but in the middle of the story she told me this quote  “When you use things, you have to think first before you use the thing. “ after that I felt confused then I said “ what mom!!”,was this a name of a rabbit. She told me “no” then she told to think about this quote when I grow up. A few minute after she told me to sleep but the story wasn’t end yet just the middle of the story and she also told to think about this quote when I leave her and my father, finally I didn’t ask my mother back about the quote but I just slept until morning.

Liger Wildness Project

This project, we have been working on the living organisms in Liger academy for a few months ago. we found a lot of species around our campus: butterfly, insects, grass, frog and etc in the other hand We have a sheet the collect all the data from all of the animals or plants that found to put in the sheet and keep it for another study that can help us. This is what a sheet that we put the data that we found from the internet and activities looks like.

                                             Common name: Small Indian Civet
                                             Scientific name: Viverricula indica

                                                                      Yanich, age 13

Distinct characteristics and habitat:
 –  Small nocturnal mammal with brownish yellow and gray fur
 –  Black spots all over its body, with distinct rows along its back
 –  Dark stripes run down its neck
 –  Dark brown legs
 –  Long tail with 7-9 black and white rings
Pointed face with long nose and whiskers, small ears, black eyes, and sharp teeth
–  Often climbs trees, but live in holes in the ground
–  Found in forest, grassland, river, and sometimes city environments

Natural range and native status:
–  South and Southeast Asia
–  Native to Cambodia

 Prey and predation:
–  Omnivorous; eats small mammals, snakes, birds, fruits, plants, dead things, and people’s garbage
–  Eaten by dogs, large snakes, tigers, leopards, crocodiles, and humans

Cultural or medicinal uses:
–  Hunted for meat and skin, which is used in traditional medicines
–  Sometimes harvested to make “Kopi Luwak”, a coffee made from digested        cherry coffee beans and collected from the
civet’s feces (expensive – can be $600/0.5 kg)

Comment from a student:
“The first time I saw this animal, I was shocked. Its physical appearance was so amazing. It had brownish-grey fur and lots of spots all over – I won’t ever forget this moment.”

In the class, we also did some sketching all the animals and plant that found too so down here are some pictures that our team drew them.

5. Because of that____
6. Until finally____
You can follow this statements then you can create a nice story!

Every morning, there was a man who stands in the field every day, he is thin and his face looks like Mrbean but may be better that Mrbean but still the same, When I look at him, he is kind of lazy but he is looking fresh but still lazy man. I saw him every day from morning to afternoon and night but not in a deep night because I am sleeping. Today, I am going to school in my six class which is the first day of school taking place. I am walking to school because I learn in the countryside that why I walk and also a school is near to my house. I saw this man again in the field and yawning and he opens his mouth too big that a fly can go into his mouth. I don’t like him at all because he is dirty and lazy and looks like a monster that never takes a shower for a hundred years but if you look at me, I am clean, nice, tidy, look handsome and educator more than him and far and far better than him. I don’t know why he is still standing in the field every day and never go to work or find money to feed a family if he has a family when I came back from school I still see him there in the field. One day I decide to go and talk to him because I feel uncomfortable when somebody is so dirty look me everytime that I path that place, because of his reaction make me really want to kill him. He is so rude, I ask him but he never ever replies to me even a word, do you think that is rude? For me yes. Finally, I told myself that you have to go to that place and ask him some question and why he stays there, does he wait for something or he trying to scare me anytime that I walk path there. Sunday morning, I don’t go to school because it is a school break so I prepare myself and ready to communicate with him some of the problems but what is really surprising me is just a scarecrow in a field. Before I look far away from him so I don’t know, is he a human or just a scarecrow and now I found out that sometimes don’t just judge other people if you don’t know the truth and the inside.

Periodic Table

( from: Science note Learn science do science )

Scientists first started to find a way to organize the element in 1700. They were trying different strategies but no one can come up with a good solution but this table was discovered in 1860 by Russian chemist named Dmitri Mendeleev.
That he was writing the textbook for chemistry class and he wants to make it easy for them to understand so he arrange it by the atomic mass but now the scientist arrange it by atomic number. There are 118 elements in total in the table, but 26 elements were the elements that the scientist created, the natural elements are 92 elements in total. This table, they put the element into the categories figure above in the table. There are 18 Groups and 7 Periods, Group is verticle lines and Period is horizontal lines.

Alkali Metal
This group has 1 valence electron. There are 7 elements includes the hydrogen. They are so highly reactive, at top of the group, there is hydrogen, it really reacts with a gaseous nonmetal. Mostly react with all of the metal group. Alkali Metal are shiny and soft that can cut with a plastic knife easily. They are low in density. Some of them can even flat on the water because it is light.

Alkaline Earth Metal
They located in the second group. There are 6 elements in this group. This group has two valence electrons. They are combined with other substances in nature. They are really reactive, they are higher reactive than Alkali metal. Usually, the color of the element in this group is grey and silver. They are harder than Alkali Metal.

Transition Metal
Start from group 3-12 is the transition metals. They are shiny and silver colored. They are hard and high melting point and boiling point. All except Hg are solid and in-room temperature. They are conducted with electricity. Only the metal can conduct with electricity for nonmetal can’t conduct.

Halogen
They are highly reactive with nonmetal with seven valence electron. They strongly react with the alkali metal, which the simple salt can form. This group includes the gases, solid and liquid.

Noble gases
This group is located in group 18 and they are colorless and odorless gases. Some of the element in this group is heavy and some light. All the noble gases are complete the shell with the electron which makes them stable elements.
